You Have the Right to Dispute Inaccurate Information
You have the right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information in your credit report directly with credit reporting agencies.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, credit reporting agencies must investigate disputes regarding inaccurate or incomplete information.
If the information cannot be verified, it must be corrected or removed from your credit report.
There is no cost to dispute inaccurate information with the credit reporting agencies.
You May Obtain Your Credit Report
You have the right to obtain a copy of your credit report from each of the major credit reporting agencies.
You are entitled to receive a free credit report from each of the nationwide credit reporting agencies once every twelve months through the official website operated by AnnualCreditReport.com.
You May Dispute Information Yourself
You have the right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information on your credit report yourself without purchasing any credit repair or consulting services.
Consumers are not required to hire a credit repair organization in order to exercise their rights under federal law.
Accurate Information Cannot Be Removed
Credit reporting agencies and data furnishers are not required to remove accurate, current, and verifiable information from your credit report.
Only information that is inaccurate, incomplete, unverifiable, or outdated may be corrected or removed following a dispute investigation.
You Have the Right to Cancel
You have the right to cancel any contract with a credit repair organization without penalty or obligation within three business days after signing the agreement.
To cancel, you must notify the company in writing.
Credit Repair Organizations Are Prohibited From
Under federal law, credit repair organizations may not:
• make false or misleading statements about credit repair services
• advise consumers to create a new credit identity
• advise consumers to provide false information to credit reporting agencies
• misrepresent the services they provide
Consumers should be cautious of any company that promises guaranteed results.
Participation in Consulting Services Is Voluntary
Better Credit Challenge provides consulting and educational services designed to help individuals better understand their credit profiles.
Participation in these services is voluntary and not required for consumers to exercise their rights under federal law.
